About Mic & Mix
Home recording has a well-known failure pattern: people spend on a microphone and nothing on the room. A capable microphone in an untreated bedroom produces a worse recording than a modest one in a treated corner, because a sensitive capsule picks up every reflection in the space. Gear reviews rarely say this, because a room is not a product anyone can sell you a link to.
Mic & Mix is being built to say it anyway. The plan is to put the room first, to be honest about the point where more expensive equipment stops improving a recording for a given setup, and to cover interfaces on their latency and driver support rather than on input count. Where a cheap microphone is genuinely enough for a stated purpose, the page will say so without hedging.
Mic & Mix will earn affiliate commission when a reader buys through one of its links, paid by the retailer at no extra cost. Telling somebody to treat their room instead of upgrading their microphone earns the site nothing, and it is still the correct advice in most cases.
