About Steel & Sole

Protective equipment is the one clothing category where the label is a legal document. A safety boot carries a code describing its toe protection, penetration resistance, slip rating and electrical properties, and most listings show that code without explaining any part of it. Buyers end up matching a boot to a job by guessing, or by trusting a product title that uses the word safety without a standard behind it.

Steel & Sole is being built to decode the label. The plan is to explain each rating in plain terms, to match protection classes to specific trades and site requirements, and to cover comfort over a full shift rather than a first fitting, because a boot that is not worn protects nobody. Long-term wear will be followed over months, with specific note of where seams, soles and toe caps fail first.

Steel & Sole will earn affiliate commission on purchases made through its links, paid by the retailer with no change to the price. Protection ratings are never negotiable against commission: a boot that does not meet the standard a job requires will not be recommended for that job at any price.
