Range is the defining specification of personal electric transport and it is routinely quoted under conditions no rider will meet: a light rider, flat ground, low speed, mild weather. A real commute with hills, a heavier rider and cold air can cut the figure by a third or more. Battery certification and charging safety, which matter more than range, rarely appear in a listing at all.

Kick & Volt is being built to report range as a range. The plan is to describe how far a machine goes under stated conditions including rider weight and gradient, to treat battery cell certification and charger safety as primary specifications, and to cover braking honestly, because it is the system most often undersized on cheap machines. Local legal status varies widely and the site will point riders at the rules rather than ignoring them.

Kick & Volt will make money through affiliate commission on purchases made via its links, paid by the retailer at no cost to the reader. Battery and brake safety will never be traded against commission, and an uncertified battery pack is a reason not to recommend a machine at any price. No manufacturer will be able to buy placement.
